Multiple reports have surfaced identifying Jets OLT D'Brickashaw Ferguson and DLE Vernon Gholston as the passengers in WR Braylon Edwards' car when Edwards was charged with a DWI.
Edwards was arrested Tuesday morning in New Jersey for driving under the influence.
Edwards' Range Rover was pulled over by police due to overly-tinted windows. When asked to take a breathalyzer test, the receiver blew a .16, twice the legal limit. He will be arraigned later today, according to the New York Post.
"We are very disappointed in Braylon's actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment," a statement from the Jets said.
Edwards has had previous problems with the law. While with the Browns in 2009, he punched a man outside a Cleveland nightclub, pleading no contest to misdemeanor aggravated disorderly conduct. He received probation and a $1,000 fine.
The way we see it
Either the Jets or the NFL will likely hand down a suspension for Edwards later this week, and it's unlikely No. 17 will be on the field when the Jets take on the Dolphins on Sunday. As facts continue to come out in regards to Ferguson and Gholston's participation in the evening, it will just be more bad press for significant contributors to the Jets.
