Saints RB Reggie Bush will miss close to six weeks with a broken fibula, according to The Associated Press.
Bush suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the Saints' Monday-night win vs. the 49ers. After muffing a punt, his leg was hit as he dove to recover the loose ball. Bush was helped off the field by trainers and was then carted into the locker room.
The way we see it
Bush's role has diminished in recent years with the emergence of Pierre Thomas, but head coach Sean Payton still loves the versatility he provides. Before suffering the injury yesterday, Bush caught four passes for 30 yards and scored the game's first TD. Look for Lance Moore to become the Saints' primary punt returner and the team to scan the free-agent market for a replacement running back for the short term.
