The Jaguars signed QB Todd Bouman on Tuesday and placed backup QB Luke McCown on injured reserve after he tore his ACL at the end of Week Two.
McCown was playing in the fourth quarter for starter David Garrard, who struggled in the loss to the Chargers. McCown scrambled down to the San Diego three-yard line, but hurt his leg while sliding. Garrard re-entered the game and threw a touchdown pass.
Bouman last threw an NFL pass in 2005, when he started three games for the Saints. In his career, he has thrown 11 TDs and 11 INTs. He was cut in training camp by the Jaguars in 2008 and '09.
Way we see it
Garrard will take as many snaps as possible for the Jaguars, who don't want to turn their team over to a 38-year-old journeyman. But if the starter continues to be ineffective (four interceptions vs. the Chargers), head coach Jack Del Rio will have a major problem on his hands.
