Giants RB Brandon Jacobs has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for tossing his helmet into the stands during the Sunday night game against Colts.
Jacobs, who was frustrated after being pulled following a run for no gain, meant to throw his helmet at the bench but it slipped out of his hand and flew into the Colts' stands.
He released a statement Tuesday about the incident and trade rumors.
"I want to apologize one more time for accidentally tossing my helmet in the stands," Jacobs said. "I am thankful that nobody was hurt.
"I talked to (GM) Jerry (Reese) and coach (Tom) Coughlin yesterday...I have not demanded a trade and have no plans to demand a trade. The only demand I am making right now is of myself, to be the best player I can be and to help this team win."
The way we see it
Jacobs, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2007 and ’08, has lost the starting job to RB Ahmad Bradshaw and he has not been shy about his frustration.
