Here's our weekly look at the contributions made by Browns rookies this season:

CB Joe Haden (first round, No. 7 overall): Haden started the opener at Tampa Bay when the Browns opened with five defensive backs. He has shown considerable potential as the third cornerback and has a bright future. However, he was beaten by Buccaneers WR Micheal Spurlock for the game-winning TD in Week One.

SS T.J. Ward (second round, No. 38): Ward has made an immediate impact. He has stepped right into the starting lineup and leads the Browns with 19 tackles on defense. He's also added three special-teams stops. He looks like he'll be a fixture in the secondary in the years to come.

QB Colt McCoy (third round, No. 85): With Jake Delhomme (ankle) out in Week Two, McCoy was the backup to Seneca Wallace. When Delhomme returns, he will likely become the Browns' No. 3 quarterback once again.

OG Shawn Lauvao (third round, No. 92): Lauvao has been inactive for the first two gams of this season and is listed behind Floyd Womack on the depth chart at right guard.

SS Larry Asante (fifth round, No. 160): He was waived on Sept. 4 and signed to the Browns' practice squad the next day.

WR Carlton Mitchell (sixth round, No. 177): He has been inactive for the first two games. He's third on the depth chart behind Brian Robiskie and Joshua Cribbs.

DL Travis Ivey (undrafted free agent): Waived from the roster on Sept. 4 and re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 5.

DL Brian Sanford (undrafted free agent): Like Ivey, he was re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 5 after being waived the previous day.

Notes: RB Montario Hardesty (second round, No. 59) is on injured reserve after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Browns' final preseason game. ... DE Clifton Geathers (sixth round, No. 186) was waived by the Browns on Sept. 4. The Dolphins claimed him on Sept. 5, waived him from their roster on Sept. 14, re-signed him to the practice squad Sept. 15 and waived him from the practice squad Sept. 18.
