The Browns placed Kaluka Maiava on injured reserve on Tuesday, the club announced. The Browns also signed LB Titus Brown, who played for them in 2008 and '09, from the Broncos' practice squad, the team said. Cleveland waived Brown on Sept. 9.
Maiava, a reserve inside linebacker and special-teams contributor, reportedly suffered a right knee injury in the Browns' loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Maiava, 23, notched 45 tackles and 2½ sacks as a rookie last season. The 6-foot, 229-pound USC product had one tackle on defense and special teams in two games this season.
Brown, 24, was signed of the Broncos' practice, played five games for Cleveland in 2008 and '09, notching one tackle on defense.
The way we see it
Maiava has proven a capable reserve on defense and had a role on special teams, so his loss affects the Browns on two fronts. The good news is Brown is familiar with the Browns' defense.
