Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall did not mix words Monday when describing his role on the team.
"This is my team; this is my defense," Hall said in response to a question about defensive coordinator Jim Haslett's play-calling.
The question was brought up after the Redskins blew a lead yesterday to the Texans, thanks in large part to a 34-yard touchdown by Houston WR Andre Johnson. Hall was not defending the Texans All-Pro, as Haslett had CB Phillip Buchanon and FS Reed Doughty on Johnson. Doughty was out-jumped in the end zone with 2:03 left in regulation; the Texans won 30-27 in overtime.
"That's how it was. That ain't how it's going to be from here on out. I'm going to be wherever the [expletive] ball's going," Hall told Washington reporters. "Wherever the receiver's going, that's where the [expletive] I'm going. That's the bottom line. That's something we got to do in order to win games. So that's what's going to happen."
The way we see it
Hall may be confident in his skills to stop opposing top receivers, but the entire Redskins secondary needs to improve after Texans QB Matt Schaub threw for 497 yards yesterday. It will be interesting to see how Haslett responds to this Hall's questioning of his decision-making.
