Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said in his Monday press conference that veteran RB Kevin Faulk is undergoing tests and does not know the severity of Faulk's injury.

Faulk was slow to get up and looked very much in pain following a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter against the Jets on Sunday. Faulk did not return to the game and iced his knee on the sideline. Faulk appeared frustrated and did not comment about his injury after the game.

Faulk had 22 yards on five carries and two catches for 15 yards before leaving the game.

The way we see it

While the Patriots have three other capable RBs (Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris, BenJarvus Green-Ellis), Faulk is their most durable and most versatile. The 12-year veteran has missed just three games in the past four seasons and had seen a lot of playing time in the first two games of 2010. He is also one of Belichick's favorite players.

"[Kevin] is so dependable and can really handle any role for us on offense, in the return game or on special teams. It's just a question of which ones we ask him to do," Belichick said earlier this month.
