In a game where few Patriots shined, especially in the second half, here are the players of the week for Week Two.
Offense: Rookie TE Aaron Hernandez had six catches for 106 yards in just his second game in the NFL. He broke tackles and looked like a wide receiver juking away from Jets defensive backs. Wes Welker and Randy Moss had the touchdown catches, but Hernandez was the most effective weapon for Tom Brady.
Defense: DE Gerard Warren's two sacks stood out in a game where the Patriots' "D" could not slow down Jets QB Mark Sanchez or RB LaDainian Tomlinson. Warren got the starting job in training camp after DE Ty Warren landed on injured reserve and he brought QB pressure the Pats desperately needed.
Special Teams: P Zoltan Mesko, who wins for best name every week, was the best special teams player for the Pats on Sunday. Special teams wasn't pretty — PK Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal and CB Kyle Arrington got a penalty for running into Jets PR Jim Leonhard who called fair catch. Mesko had a long punt of 56 yards, dropped one inside the 20, and the Jets only totaled 11 punt return yards.
