Three linemen visited the Steelers Friday as they look to add some depth in the trenches. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that DE Baraka Atkins, OT Allen Barbre and OG Donald Thomas all visited the Steelers.

The Steelers will be without starting OLT Max Starks (ankle) for one month and lost ORT Willie Colon (Achilles) for the season back in July. On defense, starting NT Casey Hampton (hamstring) was ruled out for Week Two's game against the Titans.

The Dolphins cut Thomas when their roster was trimmed to 53. He started 12 games in 2009. Barbre started seven games for the Packers last season. Atkins, a four-year veteran, did not play in 2009.

The way we see it

With backup QBs Dennis Dixon and Byron Leftwich taking snaps until starter Ben Roethlisberger returns from suspension in Week Five, the Steelers would like to shore up his protection, and they worked out some linemen with starting experience. Starks' backup, Jonathan Scott, struggled in his seven starts with the Bills in 2009.
