With starting DE Jared Odrick out for at least two weeks with a hairline fracture of his right fibula, the Dolphins made a move on the defensive line Saturday, promoting DE Ryan Baker from their practice squad and releasing rookie DE Robert Rose.
Baker, who played in five games with the Dolphins in 2009, was signed off the Dolphins' practice squad after having been released on Sept. 4 in the final cutdown. He had four tackles in four preseason games in 2010.
Miami had claimed Rose off waivers from Seattle on Sept. 5. He was inactive for the season opener.
The way we see it
The Dolphins went with experience with this move, bringing back Baker, who is familiar with their system, to be one of the backup ends with Odrick out. Tony McDaniel will start in place of Odrick Sunday against the Vikings. Another option is moving DT Randy Starks back to end and having Paul Soliai start in the middle of the Dolphins' front with Odrick out.
