Eagles head coach Andy Reid officially ruled QB Kevin Kolb and MLB Stewart Bradley out for Sunday's game at Detroit, the coach told reporters at the team facility on Friday.

Kolb and Bradley, who both suffered concussions in the team's Week One loss to the Packers, didn't participate in practice on Friday — the third consecutive day each has missed practice.

Reid also confirmed that Michael Vick will start at quarterback in place of Kolb. Omar Gaither is slated to start at middle ’backer.

The way we see it

This move was expected after Kolb failed NFL-mandated head exams earlier in the week. Vick is one of the league's top backup QBs and has plenty of starting experience, so his transition to being first-string shouldn't be a major one. He also ran the Eagles' offense much more efficiently than Kolb in Week One.
