Heading into Mario Henderon's second season as the full-time starter at left tackle, the Raiders were hoping he would become a more consistent pass protector, but he didn't show many signs of taking that step in Week One. Head coach Tom Cable, who coached the offensive line before he was promoted to his current position, admitted that the front five has to get better. Cable was particularly critical of the offensive tackles after a poor showing against the Titans. Henderson has been a long-term project of Cable's, and observers say he has shown little improvement, which doesn't reflect well on the head coach's acumen. The O-line took a hit when OLG Robert Gallery suffered what Cable described as a serious hamstring strain in the season opener. We hear Henderson benefits from playing next to Gallery, who is considered the team's best O-lineman, and QB Jason Campbell could be even less secure if Gallery is out for an extended period.
