According to multiple media outlets, Cardinals WR Early Doucet missed practice with a possible sports hernia Wednesday — an injury that could keep him out of action for a "few" weeks if indeed the injury is a sports hernia, PFW Cardinals correspondent Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic wrote on Twitter.
Doucet, the Cardinals' No. 3 receiver, suffered the injury Sunday when he caught two passes for 37 yards in Arizona's 17-13 win at St. Louis. He played only 16-of-32 regular-season games in 2008 and '09 because of injuries.
Doucet, 24, was a third-round pick of the Cardinals in '08. Arizona visits Atlanta (0-1) on Sunday.
The way we see it
Doucet impressed at the end of the '09 season, catching 14 passes for 145 yards and two TDs in Arizona's two playoff games, and his absence would hurt the Cardinals' WR depth.
If Doucet is out, rookies Stephen Williams and Max Komar could be in for bigger roles. However, Komar fumbled three times in Week One, losing one.
