The Broncos waived RB Andre Brown to make room for new RB Laurence Maroney. Head coach Josh McDaniels, who has brought in several backs this year, announced the move Wednesday.

The Broncos traded a fourth-round pick in 2011 to New England for Maroney and a sixth-round pick in '11.

Brown was one of the Giants' final cuts in the preseason, and they could put in a claim to reacquire him. He orginally was a fourth-round pick of New York in 2009 but suffered a season-ending Achilles injury prior to his rookie season.

The way we see it

With the addition of Maroney, there was no room in a crowded backfield for Brown. He has shown flashes and likely will be picked up by another team, if not his old team, the Giants.
