After a promising debut against the Bills, Dolphins rookie DE Jared Odrick will now miss at least two weeks after suffering a slight hairline fracture to his right fibula. First reports had Odrick out for six weeks, but PFW correspondent and South Florida Sun-Sentinel writer Omar Kelly reported the team is optimistic he will return in two weeks.

Odrick, the 28th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, suffered an injury in the third quarter of Sunday's season-opening victory over the Bills, first reported as a deep thigh bruise. Already expecting him to miss Week Two, the Dolphins will now be without the rookie for 2-6 weeks.

Odrick had a tackle for loss in his NFL debut.

The way we see it

The Dolphins were counting on Odrick to improve the pass rush this season, and he has been in the starting role since the summer. In his NFL debut, Odrick got into the backfield to record a tackle for loss . Earlier Tuesday, the Dolphins re-signed DE Lionel Dotson as insurance. Five-year veteran Tony McDaniel will likely start for Odrick, with Dotson coming into the game as well. DT Randy Starks could also move to right end, his position from last season, with Paul Soliai starting at nose tackle.
