The Panthers should have their starting QB back in practice this week and available to start in Week Two's home opener against the Buccaneers.

A source told NFL.com that Matt Moore, who sustained a concussion late in the Panthers' season-opening loss to the Giants, is expected to practice this week and should start on Sunday.

Under the new NFL concussion guidelines, Moore has to go through a battery of tests before taking the field. He has been listed as day-to-day, but the source said Moore's concussion was very mild and he is feeling well. Head coach John Fox said on Monday that Moore was "feeling way better" and that he would start if he was cleared to play.

The way we see it

A healthy Moore is the right option for the Panthers at quarterback. Rookie backup Jimmy Clausen was 0-for-2 in his brief stint in the opener and was not phenomenal in the preseason. The Panthers' strength, though, is in their run game, something they'll want to improve on, following a subpar Week One performance, when they face the Bucs this Sunday.
