Redskins RB Clinton Portis may be in hot water after making comments Tuesday morning about the controversy surrounding the New York Jets.

Discussing the Jets' alleged locker-room treatment of TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz, Portis said on Washington radio: "You put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her. You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's gonna want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 mens' packages. And you're just sitting here, saying 'Oh, none of this is attractive to me.' "

Portis admitted he did not know the details of the story before being filled in by the radio host.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the New York Times, "The comments are clearly inappropriate, offensive and have no place in the NFL. We have contacted the Redskins & they will discuss the matter directly with Mr. Portis."

The way we see it

Portis is unlikely to be suspended, but a fine may be coming his way from the NFL office, which doesn't like players commenting on ongoing investigations by the league. The two-time Pro Bowler should be focused on continuing the positive momentum his team built with their Week One win vs. the Cowboys, not commenting on an issue he has no involvement in.
