The Jets were counting on NT Kris Jenkins to be a run stuffer in the middle of their defense in 2010. After one game, they'll have to find somebody else for the job.
Jenkins tore his left ACL in the Week One loss to the Ravens and is out for season. It is the same injury that he suffered last season in Week Six, ending his 2009 season.
Backups Sione Pouha and Matt Kroul are the candidates to replace Jenkins in the lineup.
The way we see it
This is a very tough blow to the Jets' defense. They survived last year without the 6-4, 360-pound tackle and will be tested to do it again in 2010. Pouha started 14 games in Jenkins' place in '09 and would seem to have the edge in filling the job. One of two D-linemen, Martin Tevaseu or Jarron Gilbert, members of the team's practice squad, could also be moved up to the 53-man roster.
