Panthers head coach John Fox said that if QB Matt Moore is cleared by doctors to play on Sunday, he will be the team's starting quarterback in Week Two vs. the Buccaneers.

Moore struggled in the team's opening-day loss to the Giants, throwing three interceptions in the endzone and completing only 42 percent of his passes. He was then knocked out of the game in the final minutes after taking a blind-side hit by Giants DE Osi Umenyiora. Fox said the QB may have suffered a concussion earlier in the game and will need to be cleared by doctors after undergoing medical tests throughout the week.

Backup QB Jimmy Clausen, the team's top draft choice in April, came on in relief of Moore and was 0-for-2. He told reporters that he was "ready to go," if needed on Sunday.

The way we see it

If Moore is healthy, it is the correct choice to start him on Sunday. The Panthers will need to run the ball much better vs. Tampa Bay than they did last week to avoid starting 0-2.
