The Giants added necessary depth to the TE position Tuesday promoting TE Bear Pascoe off their practice squad. To make room for Pascoe, they released LB Bryan Kehl.

Starting TE Kevin Boss suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Sunday's season-opening victory against the Panthers. Second-year TE Travis Beckum was the only other tight end on the roster. Reserve OL William Beatty filled in as emergency tight end and then fractured a bone in his right foot.

The way we see it

Pascoe had a big preseason as a pass catcher, which is good for the Giants because he is known more for his blocking skills. The Giants are hurting at tight end and don't know an exact timetable on Boss' return. Pascoe, a sixth-round pick by the 49ers in 2009, has one career reception. Kehl's poor blocking led to a punt being blocked in the season opener.
