The Dolphins re-signed DE Lionel Dotson and OLB Erik Walden on Tuesday and cut recently acquired DE Clifton Geathers.

Dotson, a seventh-round pick in 2008, didn't make the 53-man squad and signed a practice-squad offer from the Broncos. Walden has been a primary member of the Dolphins' special-teams unit in his two seasons.

The way we see it

Both players re-signed add to positions where guys were hurt Sunday. Rookie DE Jared Odrick has a deep thigh bruise and likely will not play in Week Two. OLB Ikaika Alama-Francis missed Week One's game because of an illness. Walden should be a big help on special teams, as returner Clifton Smith rarely had room to run against the Bills. The Dolphins also continued to stay young in their acquisitions as opposed to re-signing veteran DEs Marques Douglas or Charles Grant.
