The NFL is getting a sense via some Week One TV ratings Week One just how many fans will be devastated if a lockout occurs in 2011. After Thursday night's highest-rated NFL Kickoff game ever, the Sunday night game between the Redskins and Cowboys notched the best overnight for any Week One primetime game in 13 years.

According to overnight data released Monday by The Nielsen Company, the Redskins' 13-7 victory over the Cowboys earned a 16.6 overnight rating and 26 share, the best overnight for any Week One (Sunday or Monday) primetime game since Sept. 1, 1997's Bears-Packers game.

The 16.6/24 was the best "Sunday Night Football" overnight rating since it returned to NBC in 2006. The only primetime Week One NFL broadcast to have a higher overnight rating than the Redskins-Cowboys game dating back to '97 was Thursday's Vikings-Saints opener.
