Lions QB Matthew Stafford left the team's 2010 season opener with a shoulder injury after a hit from Bears DE Julius Peppers before halftime. Backup QB Shaun Hill took over for Stafford in the second half.

The Lions were ahead 14-13 at halftime when Stafford went to the locker room with his jersey and shoulder pads off. He returned to the Lions' sideline for the second half but it was announced that he would not return to the game.

His right arm appears to be in a sling under a T-shirt.

The way we see it

There is a big dropoff in arm strength between Stafford and Hill. In traning camp, Lions receivers talked about how Hill's passes looked like change-ups. He's not real agile in the pocket but smart and generally not prone to mistakes. He has thrown a pick already, but his recevier (Calvin Johnson) fell down. Hill is 10-6 as a starter in his career.
