QB Peyton Manning's protection may not be at 100 percent in the Colts' season opener Sunday against the Texans. Pro Bowl C Jeff Saturday and starting OLT Charlie Johnson are both listed as questionable.

Saturday, a 12th-year veteran, had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last month but practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday. He is expected to play. Johnson, whose job Sunday is to protect Manning's blind side against Texans DE Mario Williams, sprained his right foot in practice on Aug. 6 and returned to the field this week.

LB Cody Glenn, WR Anthony Gonzalez and CB Jacob Lacey are also listed as questionable for the Colts.

The way we see it

Manning doesn't necessarily need hours in the pocket to find his targets, but the Texans' defense will be hungry to start their season with a win, let alone at home and over the Colts. The Colts' offensive line has had a rough offseason and needs a healthy Saturday and Johnson. Neither free-agent acquisition OG Andy Alleman nor OT Adam Terry made the 53-man roster, and the Colts cut OG Tony Ugoh this week.
