A new study by Nielsen Co. confirmed what the Cowboys have been telling us all along — they are America's Team.
The Nielsen Sports Media Exposure Index, which measures media exposure on TV and online, was released on Thursday, the day the 2010 NFL season begins. The Cowboys took top billing in the popularity index, followed by the Steelers and Giants. The Bears, Packers and Vikings tied for fourth.
The Cowboys lead the league in gross audience during nationally televised games and monthly unique audience to the team Web site. The Saints were tops in the local TV ranking, and the Giants generate the most online buzz.
The Jets, who make news pretty regularly these days with their HBO show "Hard Knocks," ranked 18th
