A week after the Jets parted ways with QB Kevin O'Connell, they are bringing him back to the roster. The Star-Ledger referenced a radio station in O'Connell's college town of San Diego being the first to report that he would be re-signed to a two-year deal and likely will go straight to the injured reserve list for the rest of the 2010 season.

O'Connell tore his labrum during the preseason and will not take up a spot on the 53-man roster by being placed on I.R. Kellen Clemens will fill the team's No. 3 QB role behind Mark Sanchez and Mark Brunell.

The Jets traded with the Lions for O'Connell last September. The Patriots drafted him in the third-round in 2008. He has played in only two career games, both in ’08 with New England. O'Connell was just 8-for-16 passing for 70 yards and two interceptions during the ’10 preseason.

With this likely being Brunell's final year in the league, the Jets may be re-signing O'Connell to give him another chance in 2011 to fight for a spot as Sanchez's backup.
