After spending the preseason battling injuries to regain his starting job, C Jake Grove has been cut by the Dolphins. The team also announced it has re-signed OL Cory Procter.

Grove, a seven-year veteran out of Virginia Tech, started 10 games last season before having his season cut short by an ankle injury. He spent most of the preseason as the backup center to Joe Berger, who started the six games Grove missed in 2009.

Grove participated fully in practice on Wednesday despite being included on the Dolphins' practice report with a shoulder injury. Head coach Tony Sparano said before the final preseason game he knew who the starting center was, with most signs pointing to Berger, and Thursday's termination of Grove's contract firmly places Berger in the starting role.

The Dolphins signed Procter in May before cutting him last weekend. Procter, a six-year veteran out of Montana, played in 12 games last season with the Cowboys. PFW correspondent and South Florida Sun-Sentinel writer Omar Kelly wrote on his Twitter page that Procter worked as the backup center in practice on Thursday.
