Cardinals new QB Derek Anderson will have top receiver Larry Fitzgerald ready to go for the team's season opener Sunday against the Rams.
Fitzgerald returned to practice Tuesday with a knee brace but will play Sunday. "He was moving along just fine. He is progressing very well," head coach Ken Whisenhunt said after Wednesday's practice.
Fitzgerald missed the final three preseason games after spraining his right knee following a hit from Texans FS Eugene Wilson in Arizona's first preseason game on Aug. 14. Fitzgerald said he wanted to practice earlier but the coaching staff remained cautious with his injury.
In his seventh NFL season, Fitzgerald was elected one of the offense's captains and has started every game the past two seasons. Fitzgerald also denied rumors that he pushed the organization to go with Anderson over QB Matt Leinart.
