The Bills already have their work cut out for them heading into Sunday's season opener against the Dolphins with a weak front seven. It's now looking like that defense will be even weaker. ILB Kawika Mitchell missed practice Thursday with a foot injury and is doubtful for Sunday.

Mitchell, a seven-year veteran, is the backup to Andra Davis, but provides experience to a Bills defense that lost its best pass rusher, Aaron Schobel, to retirement this preseason. The Bills also likely will be without OLB Reggie Torbor (chest). Meanwhile, S Jairus Byrd (groin) returned to practice this week and head coach Chan Gailey is optimistic he will play.

In two meetings last season, the Bills gave up 407 yards on the ground to the Dolphins, and will need all the help they can get to stop Miami RBs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
