He won't be starting in the season opener, but Bills RB Fred Jackson will play in the game, head coach Chan Gailey said Wednesday.

Jackson is a month removed from surgery to repair a broken bone in his left hand. He will wear a pad around the injured hand and Gailey said "he will be fine for the game."

Gailey already announced that rookie C.J. Spiller will start at running back in the opener vs. the Dolphins.

Jackson, a fourth-year veteran, rushed 1,062 yards and had 46 catches for 371 yards last season.
