The Dolphins signed former Rams and Cowboys LB Bobby Carpenter on Monday and released LB Charlie Anderson, the club announced.

Carpenter, a first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2006, started three games in four seasons with Dallas. The Cowboys traded him to the Rams for OT Alex Barron in May. Carpenter, 27, was cut by St. Louis on Monday.

Dolphins executive vice president-football operations Bill Parcells was the Cowboys' head coach when Carpenter was drafted.

Anderson, 28, started three games in two seasons with Miami. He played with Houston from 2004-07.
