The Jaguars announced Sunday that they were awarded third-year DT Landon Cohen off waivers from the Lions. OL Paul McQuistan was released to make room on the roster for Cohen.
Cohen, a 6-3, 300-pound Ohio University product, played in 24 games with four starts for the Lions the past two seasons. He was a seventh-round draft pick (216th overall) of Detroit in the 2008 draft. He played in 14 games in 2009, starting four, and totaled 23 tackles and one forced fumble.
The team also signed four players to its practice squad, with four more signings expected Monday.
All four of the practice-squad players had been with the team throughout the preseason and were waived in final cuts on Saturday. They are, in alphabetical order: OT Daniel Baldridge,TE Mike Caussin, WR John Matthews and DT Kommonyan Quaye.
