The Redskins have released RB Willie Parker, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter.

Parker faced an uphill battle to make the team in a competition with Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and Ryan Torain.

According to reports, Torain also was cut, though it appears the Redskins would like him on their practice squad. He appeared to have a strong training camp and preseason coming back from a knee injury two years ago.

A Pro Bowler in 2006 and 2007, Parker has lost a step with injuries and age.

Other known Redskins cuts include TE Lee Vickers, WR-RS Terrence Austin and CB Ramzee Robinson. Austin also has practice-squad eligibility and likely would remain in D.C. if he clears waivers.
