The Lions have acquired disappointing CB DeAngelo Smith from the Broncos in exchange for TE Dan Gronkowski and an undisclosed draft pick.
The move appears to be a wise risk for the Lions. Smith was the 39th overall selection in the 2009 draft but made only 14 tackles in 15 games.
The Broncos traded a first-round pick this year, which ended up being the 14th pick in the draft, to the 49ers to make the move. The 49ers selected OT Anthony Davis with the pick.
Gronkowski, the brother of New England's Rob and Dallas' Chris, made one catch for four yards as a rookie last season as a seventh-round pick.
