Restricted free-agent S Jarrad Page finally has signed his one-year tender, the Chiefs announced late Friday.
Page skipped all OTAs, minicamps and training camp as he held out for a trade. However, the Chiefs didn't deal him, and the 2006 seventh-round draft choice had little choice but to sign the tender or sit out the season. Since he was tendered at the second-round level, Page's tender will provide for a base salary of $1.759 million.
Page has started 39 games during his four years in Kansas City, recording 198 tackles, 25 passes defended, 10 interceptions and four forced fumbles.
Kansas City has been granted a roster exemption for Page until Monday, Sept. 20. He can be activated at any time before the deadline, or else he can be traded or released.
The Chiefs also announced the release of seven players Friday: TE Leroy Banks, WR Rich Gunnell, OG-C Lemuel Jeanpierre, OT-OG Ikechuku Ndukwe, CB Mike Richardson, LB John Russell and OG Dan Santucci.
