The Jaguars placed two players on injured reserve, Tuesday, including 2010 third-round pick DT D'Anthony Smith. Smith suffered a torn Achilles in early August and will be out for the season. C John Estes was also placed on I.R.
Jacksonville waived C Cecil Newton, DE Julius Williams, CB Josh Gordy, and WR Roren Thomas. They signed rookie C Bradley Vierling, an undrafted rookie out of Vanderbilt.
The first four picks for the Jaguars in the 2010 NFL draft were all on the defensive line, including Smith. In the Pro Football Weekly 2010 Draft Preview, Nolan Nawrocki said that Smith "looks the part and will be selected on his size and movement skills alone, but he lacks the competitiveness required in the NFL's trenches."
