Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris announced the team has cut RB Derrick Ward, LB Jon Alston and WR Terrence Nunn.
Ward signed a four-year, $17 million deal before last season, but he never performed up to expectations after joining the Bucs. He averaged just 3.6 yards per carry in 2009 and Tampa Bay has decided to go with Kareem Huggins, an undrafted second-year player, as Cadillac Williams' primary backup instead of Ward.
Alston signed with the Bucs this offseason after spending the previous three years with the Raiders. He was expected to be a backup linebacker and contribute on special teams. Nunn, who went undrafted in ’08, has yet to play in a regular-season game.
