The Eagles announced Monday that they have traded FB Charles Scott to the Cardinals for CB Jorrick Calvin. Both players were selected by their respective teams in the sixth round of the 2010 draft.
The trade could fill a big need for the Cardinals, who have only one fullback on the roster (Reagan Maui'a) after Nehemiah Broughton suffered a possible season-ending knee injury against the Bears last Saturday night. Dan Kreider is out with a neck injury.
The Eagles had soured on Scott, who was drafted as a running back and moved to fullback this preseason. The 5-11, 238-pounder out of LSU likely wasn't going to make the team.
Calvin, a Troy product, was deemed expendable by the Cardinals with seemingly more depth at cornerback. The 5-11, 184-pounder adds depth to a position that has seen Philadelphia pleasantly surprised by the play of fellow youngsters Trevard Lindley and Dimitri Patterson.
The Cardinals also signed free-agent WR Isaiah Williams and released C David Moosman, TE Dominique Byrd and OT Casey Knips.
