A scary moment occurred in the Chiefs preseason game Friday night when rookie LB Cameron Sheffield was carted off the field with a neck injury.

Sheffield had a helmet-to-helmet hit with Eagles RB Mike Bell as he brought Bell down near the Kansas City sideline in the third quarter.

Trainers and coaches tended to Sheffield before he was immobilized on a stretcher and carted off the field. The rookie out of Troy was conscious talking to medical personnel.

Sheffield, a fifth-round draft pick, is competing for a backup job.
