Not even the NFL can avoid the impact of a poor economy. For the first time since Forbes magazine began keeping track in 1998, the average value for NFL teams has fallen.

According to the magazine's annual rankings released Wednesday, the average value of NFL teams decreased two percent from last year to $1.022 billion. The Jaguars had the biggest loss, dropping in value 16 percent. The Rams lost 15 percent of their value, and the Bills lost 12 percent.

The Cowboys, the league's richest team, increased a league-best nine percent to a worth of $1.085 billion. The Steelers, Titans and Chiefs fell below the $1 billion-worth threshold.

The value of 20 of the 32 teams declined from 2009 to ’10.
