The Patriots have rewarded PK Stephen Gostkowski with a four-year contract extension that will pay him nearly $14 million, according to the Boston Herald.

The extension will take effect next season and run through 2014. Gostkowski signed his restricted free-agent tender during the offseason, which provides for a salary of $1.759 million this season.

The Pro Bowl placekicker will receive $5 million in guaranteed money under terms of the extension, according to the Herald.
