The Saints had to place another backup running back on injured reserve, Monday, when P.J. Hill was lost to a season-ending triceps injury. To add depth in the backfield, the Saints signed free-agent RB DeShawn Wynn, reports Mike Triplett of The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune.
Wynn played for the Packers the past three seasons but only had 14 rushing attempts in the last two seasons and finished 2009 on I.R. with a knee injury. In 2007, Wynn's rookie season, he started four games and ran for four touchdowns before a shoulder injury cut his season short.
Less than two weeks ago, the Saints placed RB Lynell Hamilton on I.R. and signed veteran RB Ladell Betts. Hill injured his triceps during the fourth quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.
Wynn will join Betts and Chris Ivory as backups to Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush.
