Eli Manning will wear a helmet at practice Wednesday and play this Saturday against the Ravens; both are firsts since the forehead gash he suffered in the Giants' first preseason game against the Jets.
Manning did not play Saturday when the Giants lost to the Steelers in their second preseason game and he'll wear a baseball cap at practice Monday, but ESPNNewYork.com reports that he expects to wear a helmet on Wednesday and return to the gridiron on Saturday.
The hit Manning suffered when his forehead collided with Jets SS Jim Leonhard's helmet caused a gruesome wound that required 12 stitches. Those stitches were removed on Friday.
The Giants are already without backup QB Jim Sorgi for the preseason, and third-string QB Rhett Bomar took every snap in the Giants' game against the Steelers.
