The Bills made a roster addition Monday to help their ailing squad, especially the TE position, signing TE J.P. Foschi.
After losing RBs Fred Jackson (hand) and Marshawn Lynch (ankle) for the remainder of the preseason after their first preseason game, the Bills found out last Friday that the NFL suspended TE Shawn Nelson for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
TE Derek Schouman hurt his right knee in last Thursday night's preseason victory over the Colts and is expected to miss 3-6 weeks, leaving Jonathan Stupar as the starter. Stupar's backup, veteran Michael Matthews, limped off the practice field Sunday with a turned ankle and the team announced that it had placed him on the waived/injured list Monday evening.
Foschi set career highs in 2009 with the Bengals, pulling down 27 receptions for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Foschi is a four-year veteran who has spent time with the Jets, Raiders and Chiefs.
The Bills also waived rookie CB John Destin.
