Raiders head coach Tom Cable heaped praise on WR Darrius Heyward-Bey for showing an improved work ethic this offseason and raved about the second-year player's development in OTAs after he made just nine catches in 2009. The reviews of Heyward-Bey's training camp, however, haven't been as glowing. Observers say he's still catching the ball with his body, rather than his hands, and while his issue with drops has subsided a bit, it's still a problem. One reporter recently wrote that the seventh overall pick in ’09 disappears for long stretches in practices. An additional concern is his durability. Heyward-Bey missed the final five games of '09 with a foot injury and he has missed practice recently with what Cable described as fatigue. Reporters on the scene say it appears Heyward-Bey is dealing with a hamstring injury, but his inactivity isn't related to a specific injury, according to Cable. Regardless, the young receiver can't afford to miss out on crucial practice reps.
