The Seahawks have traded DE Lawrence Jackson to the Lions, sources tell PFW.
Jackson, the former first-round pick, was deemed a poor fit in the Seahawks' new defensive scheme, even though he had played for head coach Pete Carroll at USC.
The Lions have revamped their defensive line and have been pleased with the results, but depth is something they have sought to improve. Jackson was mainly a right end in Seattle, and he could vie for a reserve spot behind projected starters Kyle Vanden Bosch and Cliff Avril.
Jackson returned to practice on Tuesday after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury. The Seahawks also acquired DL Kentwan Balmer from the 49ers the day before.
Terms of the trade are unknown.
