The Titans signed veteran RB Samkon Gado on Tuesday and waived/injured rookie RB Stafon Johnson, who suffered a dislocated right ankle in Tennessee's preseason opener at Seattle on Saturday night.

Gado, 27, appeared in 15 games as a reserve with St. Louis last season, rushing for 26 yards on 14 carries. He played two seasons for the Rams and previously played for Green Bay (2005-06), Houston (2006-07) and Miami (2007). The 5-foot-10, 227-pound Gado has rushed for 972 yards on 268 carries (3.6 ypc) during his career.

Johnson was vying to make the Titans as a reserve. Though his collegiate career at USC was cut short by a weightlifting accident in which he suffered injuries to his neck and larynx, he returned to the playing field in the 2010 Senior Bowl. He signed with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent.

"He’s just an outstanding young man," Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said of Johnson on Sunday. "He will get his opportunity again. He showed last night that he can play in this league."
