The Browns placed P Dave Zastudil on injured reserve on Tuesday, head coach Eric Mangini said, according to the club's official Twitter feed.
Zastudil, 31, missed the final eight games of the '09 campaign with a right knee injury and underwent surgery on the knee last season. Earlier in August, he said he had surgery to repair the patella tendon in the right knee. "Over time, the patella tendon had some issues with it and I had to get surgery to help that tendon out," he said, according to The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer.
Zastudil could be replaced by Reggie Hodges, the only other punter on the Browns' roster. Hodges punted for Tennessee and Cleveland last season, posting a net average of 34.9 yards. Zastudil's net average was 39.1 yards.
