The Bears are 0-for-4 in their attempts to sign a quarterback after backup QB Caleb Hanie's shoulder injury suffered against San Diego on Saturday will keep him out of at least one preseason game.

Todd Collins joined Trent Green and Damon Huard as veteran quarterbacks rejecting offers from the Bears, and a league source told ESPN Chicago that Josh McCown has been ruled out as a backup option.

The quarterbacks being courted by the Bears are worried that Chicago just plans to keep Jay Cutler and Hanie on their final roster, meaning they would just be filling a need for a few weeks in the preseason. Rookie QB Dan LeFevour is the current third-stringer, and he's likely to be on the practice squad when the season begins. reported that Collins' agent, Brad Blank, asked for a modest signing bonus and the Bears declined, offering no guaranteed money to any of the veterans.
